Joseph discovers Mary is pregnant (Matthew 1:18 - 1:25)

Mary was pledged to marry Joseph when they found that Mary was pregnant – a perplexing dilemma for Joseph since they had not yet slept together. Joseph did not want to publicly disgrace Mary so he had in mind to break the marriage pledge quietly. Before he could act, and angel of God explained to Joseph (in a dream) that Mary’s conception was through the Holy Spirit. God told Joseph that he should honor the marriage vows and take Mary as his wife. He explained that the child to be born would be a boy and that it should be named “Jesus” because “he will save people from their sins”. This fulfilled the prophesy: A virgin shall conceive and give birth to a son – and they will name him Immanuel (meaning “God with us”).

  1. or maybe conjugal rape. If he gets busted - he is stoned to death (Deuteronomy 22:25),obviously easy for proof of Marry having an affair and she gets stoned(Deuteronomy 22:21). They loved each other (so he was just a little "anxious") neither want to see the other stoned, so a dissolution of the binding was in order(Matthew 1:19). However, with the leaders, Joseph was threatened and told "... o no you don't your gonna stay, and adopt the child as your own" Joseph never asked about the pregnancy, why? because he already knew how it happened. Thus the dissolution.

    Second part is wrong.
Immanuel is the son of Isaiah. This child was an answer to King Ahz to help protect his city from the countries attacking him. Another thing to note is that no where in the NT was Jesus called Immanuel.
The Southern Kingdom of Judea had its capital in Jerusalem and was ruled by King Ahaz. The Northern Kingdom of Israel had its capital in Samaria and was ruled by King Pekah. To the north of both these kingdoms was a third, non-Jewish ruler, King Resin of Aram (Syria) whose capital was Damascus.the northern kingdom had formed an alliance with this King Rezin They had joined forces to “wage war against Jerusalem.” within 65 years the northern kingdom will cease to exist and its 10 tribes would be led into exile by Assyria.
Although Ahaz was an evil king, God would continue to protect Jerusalem in the merit of his righteous predecessors. When Ahaz ignores Isaiah’s warning the prophet tells him to request a sign from God. After Ahaz refuses this offer, Isaiah informs him that God will give him a sign despite his stubbornness. He tells King Ahaz that “The Lord Himself will give you a sign. Behold the Almah(young woman - NOT virgin) shall conceive and give birth to a son and she shall call his name Immanuel.”
The most obvious question is WHY predict a future messiah 750 years into the future?
it has not bearing on the current war which Ahaz was in need of help. (he sucked as a king)
